Our lovely resident Doris Gagnon is turning 106 years young! Friends and family are gathering today to honor and celebrate this incredible milestone birthday with Doris here at Hickory Creek at Madison.
Doris was born on March 19, 1918, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, and resided in the home she was born in until 2021 when she came to live at Hickory Creek at Madison. Her life has been rich with love and adventure. In 1941, at the age of 23, she married Gerard, with whom she shared 63 years until his passing. Together, they were blessed with five children who brought endless joy and fulfillment to their lives.
Throughout her long lifetime, Doris has found joy in simple pleasures and pursued her passions with enthusiasm. From her days working at an optical shop to her time working in stamping, Doris approached every task with dedication and grace. When asked about her hobbies, she expressed her love for all kinds of dancing, sewing, and nurturing her gardens, which flourished with both flowers and vegetables.
When asked her secret to living a long life, Doris credited goats milk and eating really good food! As Doris celebrates another year of life, her resilience and joy serve as a reminder of the power of the human spirit. Her story resonates as a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived and the enduring impact of love, family and community.
