COVID-19 Update

We are in this together.

The coronavirus pandemic has deeply impacted lives in our local community and lives all around the world. According to the CDC, older adults and people who have severe underlying medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19. At American Senior Communities, we are working tirelessly to reduce the spread of this virus and its effects on our residents and employees. This includes aggressive testing.

Open communication with families and loved ones is an extremely important priority for us. Below is the most current COVID-19 data for this community.

RESIDENT DATA

  • “Confirmed active cases (residents)” This number indicates the current number of residents who have tested positive. These residents may or may not have symptoms of the illness but have had a test indicating the presence of COVID-19. These residents are cared for with enhanced infection control techniques by our dedicated staff. Residents who test positive for COVID-19 reside separately from those who test negative to limit the spread of the illness.
  • “New cases in the last 72 hours (residents)” This accounts for the number of residents newly diagnosed.
  • “Deaths related to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours” It is with great sadness that we report any resident we love and care for has passed. The number below indicates the number of residents that passed away in the last 24 hours that were confirmed or suspected to have had COVID-19. This includes residents with other conditions/diagnoses that may have led to their passing but were also diagnosed with COVID-19.
  • “Total deaths of residents” This indicates the total number of residents that passed away who were confirmed or suspected to have had COVID-19. This includes residents with other conditions/diagnoses that may have led to their passing but were also diagnosed with COVID-19. Our hearts are heavy as we grieve along with their families.
  • “Total recovered residents” This indicates the number of residents who have recovered utilizing the CDC’s symptom-based strategy. Under this guidance, 10 days must pass after the first symptom(s) appear or 10 days from the first positive test for those that remain asymptomatic. Additionally, there must be 24 hours with no fever with use of fever-reducing medications, and improvement in symptoms. The time period used depends on the resident’s severity of illness and if they are severely immunocompromised, which may be extended up to 20 days and may need consultation with an infection control expert. Residents that are asymptomatic but have tested positive for COVID-19 must continue to be symptom free for 10 days before they would be considered recovered.

RESIDENT AND EMPLOYEE DATA

  • “New cases of respiratory illness among resident and/or employees in the last 72 hours” A “Yes” indicates that three or more new cases of respiratory illness have occurred in the last 72-hours in residents and/or staff within the community.

EMPLOYEE DATA

  • “Confirmed active cases (employees)” This accounts for the number of employees who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are directed to self-isolate at home.
  • “New cases in the last 72 hours (employees)” This accounts for the number of employees newly diagnosed and are directed to self-isolate at home.
  • “Total recovered employees” This number indicates the total number of employees who, at some point, tested positive for COVID-19 but have since recovered and have been cleared to return to work.
