The Quest for Excellence program is designed to identify and honor exemplary employees who have made a commitment to providing excellence service at the ASC community they serve. The Executive Director/General Manager, along with the Director of Nursing Services/Clinical Director, will play a vital role in administering this program. 

What is the Quest for Excellence? 

The Quest for Excellence award recognizes exceptional performance by employees whose work exemplifies compassion and a willingness to go above and beyond the normal expectations of their job.

Compassion, Accountability, Relationships and Excellence are the core values of American Senior Communities. These words form the acronym C.A.R.E. and they serve as guiding principles in all that we do at American Senior Communities. These winners exemplify these values and serve as a model to their peers.

For our Quest winners, it’s more than a job. It’s a vocation and a commitment to be fully present in the work that they do to serve others with excellence—every day.

Nomination Process | Complete by June 13

Click here for a nomination form. Please distribute them to staff by June 6. Quest for Excellence nominations may be made by anyone, including residents. Nominations must close by June 13

Selection Criteria | Complete by July 5

The Executive Director/General Manager, along with the Director of Nursing Services/Clinical Director will work together to select the community Quest Winner of the Year from the nominations that have been submitted. You can include Quest winners of the month or quarter from late last year as well. 



We are counting on your leadership to adhere to the important deadlines below.

  • June 6 – Deadline to distribute nomination forms to teams
  • June 13 – Nominations close
  • July 5 – Deadline to select winner
  • July 19 – Deadline to announce winners and submit winner’s name
  • August 14 – Deadline for submitting winner photos, bio’s and media releases         
  • September 5 – Deadline for submitting your RSVP for the Quest for Excellence gala
  • November 14 – Quest for Excellence Celebration

In identifying your Quest for Excellence Winner of the Year, consider those who demonstrate the following qualities:

• Their work exemplifies compassion and a willingness to go above and beyond the normal expectations of their job

• They embody ASC’s CARE values:

Compassion: Treating their residents and team with kindness, empathy and respect

Accountability: The are trustworthy and demonstrate ownership for their actions and outcomes

Relationships: They build and maintain positive relationships through common purpose and open communication; they are an excellent role model to their peers

Excellence: They provide the highest level of service, going above and beyond to exceed our customers’ expectations 

Winners & Celebrations

The announcement of your community’s Quest for Excellence Winner of the Year should be made at an all staff meeting by July 19. Make it special by awarding the winner flowers or balloons during the announcement. Provide the winner with a congratulatory letter that explains what it means to be a Quest for Excellence winner and how this honor will be celebrated. Click here for a sample letter. 
PLEASE NOTE: The Quest Winner of the Year you select will become your Quest Winner of the Quarter for Q3 so that they can also take advantage of the perks such as prize money, social media recognition on your community’s page, etc.


Your Quest for Excellence winner of the year will receive the following gifts and prizes:

  • A $500 bonus added to their paycheck shortly after they are announced as Quest Winner of the Year ($200 for being Q3 winner and $300 for being named winner of year).
  • A paid day off on the day of the Quest for Excellence banquet.
  • An invitation for the winner and one guest to attend the Quest for Excellence banquet and dinner, along with a complimentary stay at the JW Marriott Indianapolis, parking and a breakfast voucher.
  • A keepsake Quest winner book.

Your community will receive a copy of the Quest Winner Book and a poster to display in your lobby starting in November. 

The Rules

  • Your Quest for Excellence of the Year Winner can be full-time or part-time and must be in good standing with the company.
  • There is no minimum period of time that they have been employed by ASC. New employees are eligible.
  • Your Quest for Excellence Winner of the Year will also be your Quest Winner for the Quarter in Q3.
  • Executive Directors and Directors of Nursing are not eligible for this award.
  • Previous quarterly Quest for Excellence winners from last year are eligible to be nominated.

How To’s

Here are the steps to follow to ensure a seamless program:

1. Distribute nomination forms to your staff, residents and families.

2. Identify your Quest for Excellence Winner of the Year at an all staff meeting

3. Organize a celebration at your community in honor of your winner; provide them with a congratulatory letter, flowers, balloons, etc.

4. Arrange a photo shoot featuring several photos of your winner

5. Submit your winner photos

6. Submit a short bio on your winner

7. Submit a media release signed by your winner

8. Submit your RSVP for the Quest for Excellence Celebration in Indianapolis

9. Place your winner’s poster in your community’s lobby
