Celebrating Our Heroes on National Employee Appreciation Day

EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR 2020 30 825x510

Employee Appreciation Day is a holiday celebrated on the first Friday in March. Bob Nelson, along with his publishing company, created Employee Appreciation Day in an intentional effort to focus all employers, in all industries on the concept of employee recognition. The day was first celebrated in 1995 with the goal of strengthening the bond between employees and employers.

Different Ways to Celebrate Employees

Most individuals will spend more time at work than any other activity. That’s why on March 5th, we should all work a little harder to make the day a little sweeter. This year marks the 26th celebration of National Employee Appreciation Day and employers will treat their teams to pizza parties, cookies, coffee and so much more in celebration. Some unique ways to show your team some extra appreciation may include:

  1. Team Celebrations – Spending some extra time together in the breakroom (especially with food) can go a long way towards creating a bond and providing some extra relief for our hard-working employees.
  2. Team Outing – When practical, give your employees a chance to celebrate outside of the office. Consider having lunch prepared for a picnic at the park or a special celebration after work.
  3. Create a Culture of Appreciation – Create a systematic way to reward and show appreciation for your team members. These can be individual or team goals for a reward on a regular basis.

While today marks the official holiday of National Employee Appreciation Day, American Senior Communities believes it is important to celebrate employee appreciation every day. We covet our culture of C.A.R.E (Compassion, Accountability, Relationships and Excellence) and it all begins with our amazing team members.

At ASC, we understand that employees who feel supported and valued will be engaged, resulting in a higher level of care to those we serve. American Senior Communities recognizes employees who embody our Culture of Care by doing the right thing at the right time, for the right reason through Quest for Excellence. The Quest for Excellence award, given on a monthly and yearly basis, recognizes exceptional performance by employees whose work exemplifies a caring and concerned attitude that is above and beyond the normal expectation of their job.

Additionally, we recognize our employees through our C.A.R.E. Champion Rewards Program. This platform recognizes employment milestones (work anniversaries, birthdays, etc.) and rewards them with a wide variety of different prizes.

This year, American Senior Communities was honored to be named a Top Workplace 2020 by the Indianapolis Star! This award is a barometer of our employees’ satisfaction in their workplace, and we are enormously proud to have received this recognition.
