Chief Executive Officer Steve Van Camp has over 30 years of experience in operations and finance. As CEO, he is responsible for driving strategic plans to carry out and protect the vision, mission and values of American Senior Communities.
His goals include maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction through quality care and positive clinical outcomes, keeping ASC in compliance with federal and state regulations, and leading teams that drive total quality management processes that generate year-over-year profitability and growth.
Prior to joining ASC, Steve served as CFO of Consulate Health Care based in Atlanta, the largest operator of skilled nursing facilities in the State of Florida. Van Camp graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Manchester University, and then obtained his MBA from the University of Notre Dame, is a CPA (non-active) and began his career at Ernst & Young.
Andy Shane is responsible for developing and overseeing the strategic direction for ASC’s day-to-day operations. He is a forward-thinking, mission-driven executive with over 30 years in senior care management. He specializes in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) process and has a strong commitment to quality customer service.
He has served in a variety of healthcare leadership roles, prior to ASC, he was the Division President at Sava Senior Care. He earned his degree from Indiana University.
Chief Financial Officer, Mark Dice is responsible for financial results, economic strategy and forecasting.
As a Certified Public Accountant, Mark has been an ASC finance leader since 2016. He brings over 25 years of experience as a CFO/Controller in the long-term care and pharmacy profession. He was a former Audit Manager at Ernst & Young and earned his Bachelors (cum laude) in Accounting from Ball State University.
As General Counsel, Cate Sabatine oversees healthcare and senior housing legal matters, real estate business, and corporate transactions, providing legal support and guidance for ASC. Cate joined ASC in 2016 and spent three years as Associate General Counsel. She then served as ASC’s Chief Compliance Officer from 2019 until 2022.
Prior to joining ASC, Cate spent five years of private practice in two Indianapolis law firms with a focus on health care law. Cate is a graduate of Penn State University and received her Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degrees from Indiana University.
As Chief Compliance Officer, Mindy Shapiro oversees ASC’s compliance program, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations and company policies, developing education and training programs, conducting compliance investigations and compliance plan development.
Prior to serving as ASC’s CCO, Mindy spent over twenty-five years practicing law in government and private practice settings. She brings to ASC extensive experience in health care law. Mindy is a graduate of Indiana University, and she received her Juris Doctor degree from University of Dayton School of Law.
Mike Easley joined ASC in September 2016. He is responsible for American Senior Communities’ Information Technology strategies and the computer systems required to support the company’s needs, objectives and goals.
He is a results-oriented, hands–on senior technology executive with 15 years of experience in the senior care industry and over 20 years of experience in technical and business management.
Mike earned an Undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and a MBA from the University of Miami. He previously worked for Signature Healthcare, Home Quality Management Inc., UltraBridge, Inc., and TechPlanet, Inc.
As Chief Nursing Officer, Alicia leads the development of strategies that enhance the quality of care, ensure regulatory compliance as well as foster the growth and engagement of the clinicians that serve with ASC.
Alicia has spent her career in long-term care, starting as a CNA and then in a variety of RN leadership roles both within a community as well as at the corporate office at American Senior Communities. She joined ASC in 2008.
Alicia is a graduate of Ball State University where she earned her Masters degree.
