The Indianapolis Star’s Best Things – Indianapolis Community’s Choice Awards once again invited the public across Central Indiana to shine a spotlight on the businesses and organizations they value most. This year’s program drew strong participation, with the community helping identify more than 450 contenders across over 150 award categories. American Senior Communities (ASC) was honored to be selected as a winner in multiple categories for another consecutive year.
Final winners were announced during the awards celebration held Dec. 11 at the JW Marriott in downtown Indianapolis. ASC won for Best Nursing Home, for Best Assisted/Senior Living, and for Best Retirement 55+ Community, and was a Finalist for Best Place to Work.
The annual recognition process conducted by the Indianapolis Star began in July, when online nominations opened to the public. After nominations closed, the five most-nominated organizations in each category advanced to the September voting phase. From that group, three finalists emerged as eligible for top honors.

On hand at the ceremony to accept the awards were (L-R); Suzan Moriarity, MPH, Regional Director of Marketing and Admissions , Dawn Brooks, Regional Director of Marketing and Admissions, Tammy Avellan, Senior Lifestyle Specialist, and Mindy Preciado, Director of Business Development & Sales – Senior Living Division.
CEO Steven Van Camp said “It is a special honor to be voted in by the public and we are grateful to the Indianapolis Star for conducting this program each year. We are also deeply grateful to our residents, their families, our dedicated team members, and the communities we serve for their trust and support. This recognition reflects the compassion and commitment our teams bring to caring for seniors throughout Indianapolis and across the state. We look forward to continuing to serve Indiana families with excellence, heart, and purpose for years to come.”
