In October of 2020, American Senior Communities CEO, Donna Kelsey was recognized as one of Indianapolis’ most successful businesswomen. Donna was among 20 local leaders from both the public and the private sectors, who were awarded by The Indianapolis Business Journal, (IBJ) as their Women of Influence 2020. These award winners were chosen for their outstanding leadership, vision and mentoring skill as well as their contributions through community service. All the honorees were recognized during a virtual ceremony as well as in a special supplement to the October edition of the IBJ, where their profiles were published.
Having accepted the challenge to become ASC’s CEO during a difficult chapter for our organization, Donna added high quality professional leaders to her team and instituted checks, balances and controls that have helped boost ASC to be one of the top memory care, therapy and rehabilitation, retirement and senior living organizations in the country. Donna has guided ASC for over four years and during her tenure our organization has maintained high levels of customer satisfaction through quality care and positive clinical outcomes.
Donna has dedicated her life to the service of seniors and she is committed to serving her community as well. She has served as a member of the Indiana Healthcare Association (IHCA) board of directors for just more than three years, most recently as Chairperson. The IHCA, the state association of long-term care facilities, provides leadership to all long-term care providers across Indiana.
The COVID pandemic has presented significant challenges to every aspect of life and the skills and knowledge required to deal with the COVID virus in a long-term care setting are significant. Donna has again directed ASC’s course with clear vision, calm demeanor and purpose. Under her leadership and due to the dedication of our many team members, ASC has become very knowledgeable of and adept at navigating the challenges of dealing with COVID in the senior care environment.
Asked for comment regarding her recent Indianapolis Women of Influence award, Donna stated, “While it’s certainly an honor to be recognized among these outstanding leaders in our community, I’m deeply grateful to the many dedicated ASC team members who are propelling our success each day in our mission to serve our residents with such quality care. It’s their commitment to that mission that underpins ASC’s success and I could not be more proud of, and appreciative for their service.”
