Two notable members of the American Senior Communities family were honored as 2023 recipients of a prestigious Senior Living Award by the Indiana Health Care Association/Indiana Center for Assisted Living (IHCA/INCAL). Diane Sturgeon, Unit Manager from Springs Valley Meadows, received the Caregiver of the Year award. Linda Kuhn, a volunteer at Brownsburg Meadows Assisted Living, received the Volunteer of the Year award.
The IHCA/INCAL’s annual Senior Living Award program recognizes professionals and volunteers in nursing facilities and assisted living communities across the state of Indiana for their exemplary contribution and unwavering commitment to delivering quality care. Award winners are selected from peer and colleague nominations.
Skylar Whiteman, Executive Director of Springs Valley Meadows had this to say about Diane: “Diane is so deserving of this award. I am proud to work alongside her every day. She is a respected leader not only in our nursing department, but in every discipline. She is a touchpoint for staff, residents and families, and somehow always seems to know the pulse of our building. We see her dedication on a daily basis, but we are so excited for her to be recognized statewide.”
Griffin Bilskie, Executive Director of Brownsburg Meadows Assisted Living had this to say about Linda: “I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this award. Linda is truly a selfless individual who tries to improve the satisfaction of others in everything she does. She has such a passion for helping others. We couldn’t ask for a better person to be a part of the Brownsburg Meadows family than Linda!”
Recipients of the 2023 Senior Living Awards were honored at the Association’s annual Convention & Expo on Monday, July 31, 2023 at the JW Marriott Indianapolis, where more than 430 Indiana nurses, nursing assistants, health facility administrators, clinical staff and others working in long-term care and assisted living centers across the state were in attendance.
