ASC Invests in Talent by Promoting From Within

Two Mid Adult Female Nursing Students Co Operate On Classwork

As one of the largest providers of senior care in Indiana, American Senior Communities is also one of our state’s biggest employers in healthcare. We are committed to fostering an environment of caring that encompasses our residents, families and team members. It’s our goal to create communities where everyone feels valued.

Among the many reasons for joining the ASC team is our steadfast belief that hiring and retaining the best employees is the key to our success. We know our approach builds communities that offer the highest quality of care. When employees are treated well, they do a better job caring for our residents and their family members.

Investing in Our Teams at ASC Communities

From paying competitive salaries to offering generous benefits, we invest in our employees. And when there is an opening on one of our teams, we promote from within. Not only is it the right thing to do, but there’s also ample evidence that it encourages employee retention, morale and motivation. A survey by Pew Research Center found that in 2021, 63% of employees who left a job said they did so because there was no room for professional growth and advancement. When new opportunities open up, giving current employees priority motivates them to stay longer and do their best work.

At ASC, we take our commitment to promoting from within a step further, by offering dedicated career tracks, tuition assistance and education partnerships. Team members have unlimited opportunities to expand their skills and continue advancing in their career.

Opportunities for Professional Growth at ASC

With a variety of jobs to choose from at ASC communities, someone who is motivated to learn and grow can try everything from organizing resident activity programs to marketing and sales.

Two of our most popular career paths are for those interested in nursing or the culinary arts.

  • Nurse Aide Training Program: Many people are drawn to a career in senior care because of the opportunities it offers to nurture and care for our elders. Aide positions can be a great introduction to the senior living industry. At ASC, it’s possible to start your career as a certified nurse aide and advance from there. Through this program, ASC will pay you to continue your training. While some team members are happy to spend their entire career as a nurse aide, other people go on to pursue additional training to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or registered nurse (RN). Our tuition assistance benefit makes either option affordable.
  • Culinary Apprenticeship Program: For many people, cooking is a passion. But they aren’t sure how to turn that interest into a career. At ASC, this is another career path that offers lifelong opportunities. Participants have a chance to enjoy both the creative process and the opportunity to serve. Through this one-year paid culinary apprenticeship program, team members learn from the ground up. They begin as culinary aides, then advance to prep cooks and, finally, to cook. The program is a Registered Apprenticeship with the Department of Labor and approved by the Indiana Department of Health.
